The STIHL GTA 40 battery pruner is the professional tool designed for the care of trees and shrubs, for gardening and landscape maintenance, as well as for wood processing on construction sites. Thanks to the high-performance EC motor and the STIHL 1/4"-PM3 chain, it ensures a clean cut and rapid work progress, while maintaining a compact structure and a light weight of only 1.4 kg (without battery).
Designed as a battery pruner for tree pruning and as a professional battery saw for working at heights, the GTA 40 can also be used by professional arborists for direct interventions on the canopy of standing trees, both from the ground and while climbing.

Technical Specifications
The Stihl GTA 40 features an EC motor powered by 2 lithium-ion batteries from the AS line. The motor unit draws a power of 0.52 kW (0.41 kW actual), with direct transmission to the STIHL 1/4"-PM3 chain equipped with automatic lubrication adjusted according to RPM, for a constant cut even in the most demanding passages.
The 15 cm bar and 1.10 mm groove, combined with the 1/4"P chain pitch, allow up to 240 cuts per single battery charge. The sound power is 90 dB(A). The protection rating is IPX4 for protection against water splashes, a requirement verified through rigorous internal STIHL tests.

Quick and Safe Chain Tensioning
The side chain tensioner, operated via the sprocket cover, allows you to tension or replace the chain in a few steps, without additional tools and with complete operational safety, reducing machine downtime during professional activity.
Real-time Residual Charge Control
The LED charge status indicator, activated with a simple button press, shows the remaining battery capacity at all times. This feature allows for better organization of work shifts and planning of charging without unexpected interruptions on construction sites or in parks.
Suitable for Working at Heights and in Confined Spaces
The ergonomic handle with hand guard and the shaped non-slip top grip, combined with the claw-shaped kickback guard in front of the grip area, offer precise control in forward, backward, and tip cuts, ideal for overhead pruning, crown corrections, and finishing work on roofs or dry stone walls.
Safety for Climbing and Construction Sites
The two steel hooks, positioned on both sides of the tool, allow for the installation of an anti-fall protection system, making the GTA 40 also suitable for overhead arboriculture interventions carried out by trained operators.
Lightweight Structure and Reduced Maintenance
The EC motor, in addition to ensuring energy efficiency, is distinguished by its long service life, reducing maintenance requirements and ensuring operational continuity even under conditions of intensive daily use.
